Let’s get lost in New York

New York City is the city of cities! Probably one of my favorites! It is my first time in the city and we stayed in Manhattan. We only had 3 days to explore the city. Here’s places in New York you can get lost to.

  1. TAKE A FERRY TO LIBERTY ISLAND.  The most notable feature of the Liberty island, is of course, the statue of Liberty. And what I enjoyed about our visit is that we were able to see it in snow. There are ferries available from Battery Park to Liberty Island. It was free with the 3-day New York City Pass that we purchased. 🙂

2. WALK THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE. Take a walk in New York’s most famous bridge. Because you can take really good photos along the way 🙂

3. CHECK OUT TIMES SQUARE. This intersection is one major tourist destination in NYC. It is buzzing with billboards, crowds of all sorts mainly tourists, shops. Let’s talk about sensory overload. Interesting shops would be M &M’s world and Hersheys, here you can see your favorite chocolates in giant sizes! Many hop on and hop off sightseeing tours start here. Broadway is nearby, so you could see a play (which brings us to number 4)

4. WATCH A PLAY IN BROADWAY. The choices are endless for plays in broadway and the truth is, could be an adventure in itself. However, we chose feely goody Lion King. What I enjoyed about it is I was able to buy a delicious drink with alcohol! (Which I find ironic for the play). The name? Hakuna Matata. 🙂

5. STROLL IN CENTRAL PARK. After the blizzard, strolling in Central Park reminds me of Home Alone 2. You can even do ice skating if that is your thing. 🙂 We took the subway to the upper east side and walked from the centre of the park, going back to downtown Manhattan.

6. GRAND CENTRAL TERMINAL. We stopped at this subway station in midtown Manhattan just to check out its architecture and its beauty, but this is actually a very important railway station for New Yorkers! Anyway, there are coffee shops, restaurants and even an apple store!

7.  TOP OF THE ROCK observation deck. You have the option of going there in daylight or at night time and both are really different views. Actually, we also went up the EMPIRE STATE BUILDING. They have an observation deck at the 102nd floor, where you can see all of New York, however, all we saw was a lot of fog. :/ Seriously zero visibility, so it really depends on how lucky you are.

8. CHECK the MET. After eating some hotdogs sold in front, we headed inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which is home to very important works of art. One of its famous installations is the an ancient Egyptiant art, the Temple of Dendur (in the picture below).

9. SEE THE CHARGING BULL at Battery Park. This famous bronze sculpture of a bull found in wall street is a symbol of force and strength to inspire the city’s financial district. Through time, however, it soon evolved into a tourist attraction. On your way there you will find a queue of tourists waiting for their turn. When we left the city, after a few months, they installed a girl infront the bull and they called it “The fearless girl”. Maybe they were inspired by my photo, see below, the fearless look on my face?

10. VISIT THE NEW YORK PUBLIC LIBRARY. Take a stop to see this beautiful library, which is home to millions of books. (I wasn’t able to catch the two lions in my photo, because I did not discover panorama feature on the iPhone back then). Also, had we stayed a longer time in New York, I was thinking of studying here for my next exams.

The truth is, I think I could do more than 10 things to do in this city! I had a blast! 🙂
